Let’s Look at The Reasons Why Fertility Coaching is Becoming More Popular in Recent Years?

If you are like me, the path to parenthood has not been easy!

I have been through fertility drugs, IUI and IVF.  I have been through alarming expenses and uncertainties.  I tried diets, supplements, acupuncture, and nothing was working.  This took a toll on me physically and emotionally with a lot of stress!  This can leave you feeling isolated and overwhelmed.

But we are not alone!  Roughly 16% or 1 in 6 couples in Canada experience infertility and this number keeps on increasing!  A Fertility Coach has been proven to be advantageous to this group of people and they are experiencing the mind-blowing benefits and reasons.

What is Fertility Coaching?

Fertility Coaching provides support to help you manage the stress and sets you up for conception and healthy pregnancy.  A Fertility Coach can help you navigate any fertility struggles and be your partner, so you become healthier and stronger while trying to build a family.  Having someone experienced and knowledgeable can help alleviate feelings of isolation, frustration, helplessness, and confusion.

Fertility Coaching has been shown to improve pregnancy rates and reduce rates of anxiety and depression.  That is because Fertility Coaches can help you manage and improve factors that are shown to affect fertility and the chances of a healthy live birth such as weight, diet, intake of vitamins, alcohol, smoking, substance abuse, environmental pollutants, infections, alternative therapies, medical conditions, medications, and family medical history, as well as other stressors such as finances, work, and relationships.

Whether you are trying to conceive naturally, going through IVF, recovering from pregnancy loss or IVF failure, exploring donor or adoption, fertility coaching can work for you.  Professional Fertility Coaches also provide support for miscarriages, IVF support, endometriosis, irregular periods, ovulation, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), cancer, and more.

Given my own experience, I also focus with my clients on balancing work and fertility, as that is what I personally found to be the most difficult.  It can sometimes feel like two full-time jobs!

Why You May Want a Coach Instead of a Therapist?

Fertility Therapists assess, diagnose, and treat mental illness.  This tends to happen through a lens of the past into the present.  A Fertility Coach is more focused on looking forward, building towards your goals, and being solutions-focused.  When selecting a Fertility Coach, it is a good idea to:

  • Select a coach with some form of accreditation or training.
  • Consider if they are a member of professional bodies, organizations, or industry groups, which may indicate continuous learning and up-to-date information.
  • Get to know their personality: most coaches offer a free discovery call where you can connect with them personally and understand their services and see if you gel as personalities.

A Fertility Coach can fill the gap that your family, friends, doctors, and friends leave.  A Fertility Coach is sensitive, inspirational, empowering.

Based on a study by Harvard University, women getting to a mind-body (coaching) program had twice the possibility of getting pregnant. Of those women who conceived, 76% did so naturally within a year, regardless of age, time of trying, and diagnosis.
